What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
into your life, don’t give them a door.
That was seriously the best piece of advice I have ever gotten from the therapist. Because of my borderline personality disorder, I really struggle with boundaries. I often form poor attachment, styles with people, and it often leads to trouble within my interpersonal relationships.

I was talking to my therapist about how to best keep toxic people out of my life. She simply said, “if you don’t want somebody in your life, don’t give them a door.”

It is very simple when you think about it. If you give somebody a door, they will always have the option to walk through it. Even if you lock it, they can still get in. So, in order to keep somebody out – don’t give them a way to get in.
