Daily Prompt #16

Do you remember your favorite book from childhood?

Specifically – “One Fish, Two Fish” or whatever it is called.

My favorite childhood book was Dr. Seuss’ “One Fish, Two Fish. Red Fish, Blue Fish”. I adored most Dr. Seuss books as a child, but this one holds a very special place in my heart. This is the book that my grandma would read to me every (or nearly) everyday growing up. It was the bath time rhyme, the goodnight book, and the story I asked for when I was sad or scared.

The illustrations are part of what made me love it.

I wish I could say that I could choose, but while this story is my favorite, there are a few others by Dr. Seuss that I feel compelled to mention.

All of Dr. Seuss’ books are important to me, and important to the development of my childhood. These books are what interested me in writing and reading. I learned to write poetry from the stories told to me at night.

Add in all of the eccentricities and it is no wonder I am the way I am – write the way I write. Not too mention – it truly expanded the bounds of my imagination. I credit these books for the majority of my motivation to become an author, ironically.

Do you have a favorite childhood book? Do you share any of the same favorite books?
